Quotation:“Angela Guarda, director for the eating disorders program at john hopkins hospital, said it’s common for her patients to say they learned from social media tips for how to restrict food intake or purge.”

Comment:This quote talks about what is wrong with social media, like with instagram many women try to find posts or videos that explain how to “lose weight” but then they end up going down the wrong path by restricting how much they eat or even purging. Social media is not the safe space it claims to be and actually makes many people get a eating disorder or some sort of depression or mental illness, due to the image that social media is setting for men and woman it makes the “normal” people feel let out or not important and then many people go down the path of purging or using tips that is actually unhealthy for you but when looked at on social media it makes it seem like its ok. People feel the need to do things like losing weight in an unhealthy way because of what is represented on social media. In my opinion without social media a lot of problems would go away since people wouldn’t get sad or want to change because of what they see on social media. Overall the power that social media has over some people is very wrong, social media platforms should try and do something to prevent this issue. I haven’t really experienced much of this on social media but I know other people that have and I definitely think that social media platforms should try something to help with this issue.

Question:Have you seen examples of this on social media?
