Comment:Social media is a perfect way to spread activism around the world. You are able to do things like tweet or use a hashtag and help spread awareness about a certain topic, that’s the beauty of social media is that it is really easy to spread awareness, in the same paragraph they say that social media is great way for the people not in the government or on the new news to help spread awareness. Social media makes it so anyone can have a voice and that anyone can speak their opinion. Without speaking on social media people faced the consequences like what happened in South Carolina and people got arrested and thousands more people were radicalized. Social Media gives anyone the power to spread activism without the usual consequences like getting arrested or almost starting some sort of civil war like what happened in South Carolina at St. Augustines college and Shaw University. Twitter helped many people spread awareness like it did when it made the people of Iran feel more empowered and confident to stand up for their freedom and democracy. Without social media many people would struggle to spread awareness and overall I would guess you would see a huge drop in awareness and people talking about events and how to advocate for it.
