Quote: “Today you hear these infernal machines going night and day. We will not have a vocal cord left. The vocal cords will be eliminated by a process of evolution, as was the tail of man when he came from the ape.”

Comment:In this quote John Philip Sousa said that back when he was kid people would be singing together in there neighborhood and now songs are loud and annoying as he says “these infernal machines going night and day”, I disagree with what he says about how we will not have vocal cords and how they will be eliminated by the process of elimination. When I think of how music and songs have evolved throughout the years I can only think of positive things that have occurred, like how music has progressed and has fit into everyone’s personal lifestyle. I disagree with the “infernal machines going night and day” . Yes music might be loud for some people but the majority of people love the new music style and would rather have this than the old time music. This new music generation has inspired many people and has been a form of spreading activism as a way since artists like to communicate through their lyrics and like to appeal to what is going on in current events. Overall I think that this guy’s point is very wrong. I don’t think we will eventually evolve to have no vocal cords. I think that we will keep on progressing with our music and get even further away from losing our vocal cords and they will progress even better. The point that John Phillip Sousa says is horribly inaccurate when looking at music today.

Question:Do you agree or disagree with Sousa’s point?
